Analysing data - computer stock
In class this week we did a test based on analysing data, we had the choice of either doing the test in Excel or in Access. I chose to do my test in Excel, the test was based on computer stock, and we were given a list of questions which we had to answer. The information was provided in Excel and I had to do the calculations in Excel and provide the answers in a Word document. You can click here to view my test.
HTML and web design
We were required to create a meaningful website by editing a policy using Notepad. The website had to focus on the ethical use of information and communication for CAT at my school. The aim of this task was to admit the policy to suite my school. You can click here to view my website.
PowerPoint of Research project
As part of the research assignment students are required to do an oral presentation based on their research. This presentation was marked and added to our Computer Applications Technology didactics mark. This presentation was done using the Microsoft PowerPoint click here to view my presentation.
Research Project
Computer Applications Didactics is one of the subjects that I am required to pass in order for me to obtain my B.Ed Hons degree. The main purpose of this subject was for students to conduct a research assignment; I chose to do my research assignment on Interactive assessment in a Grade 10 Computer Applications Technology classroom. Presenting Information
When we do surveys will try and find answers
or results to certain things. Most times the results differ depending on the participants
involved in our surveys. Instead of writing long lists of results it’s easier
to present the information in a graph as it could be easier to understand. Click
on the link to view an example of graphs that was created based on the results
of a survey on Microsoft Access.

Communication Modes
We can use excel to create graphs based on
data collected. We can then use these graphs to interpret the data. By doing
this our graphs will serve a purpose instead of just being a picture. Click on
the link to view an example of interpreting a graph.
Creating a interface in Access
I was required to create a database. When this
database is opened it should open with a interface based on the autoexec macro.
This activity was fun and sometimes even challenging, but really interesting.

Access Quiz
These days in schools, we need to find fun and innovative ways to ensure our learners know what is happening. So instead of doing the traditional question and answering we can use html quizzes to test them. The learners will find it fun as they can get their results immediately and can see which questions they got wrong. To view an example of an htm quizz click here

Write clear instructions on how to use …
Part of any educator’s job is to give instructions
and to ensure the instructions are clear and straight to the point. The
instructions must be set in such a way that it makes it simple for the person
carrying out the task to understand. Click here to read a set of instructions and follow this link to do the quiz using the instructions.
Working smart in the CAT classroom (time)
Anybody that knows me well and reading this
post, is probably having a good laugh right now as time
management is one of my biggest challenge. This assignment really gave me a
reality check as too how much time I am wasting by not planning my time
correctly. To view a brochure based on time management click on the link.
Using images in the CAT classroom
As an educator it can often prove to be a great
challenge to ensure all our learners fully understand a concept or topic being
explained. We always need to keep in mind that we need to accommodate for our
visual as well as our auditory learners. Many learners don’t often like reading
long text, therefore inserting images
with meaning often helps. We don’t realise how much we use images whether it be
on a monitor, poster or card. Follow this link to read more about images.
Educational value of a blog
Blogging has taken the world by storm. It seems
as if blogging has become the way in which
society keeps up with current trends and happenings around the world. Gone are
the days of watching the news or reading a newspaper to ensure you updated. All
you need to do now is search the internet using your cellular phone or computer
and it’s almost guaranteed that the information will be available to you on a
blog. If you still aren’t sure about what all this blogging fuss is about, then
you should click on this link to read some more.
